CEPS Wave 2 Fall Follow-up Accomplished

By successfully administering fieldwork in the last school in Sichuan Province on Jan 8th, China Education Panel Survey (CEPS) accomplished its wave 2 follow-up survey of fall cohort in 2014-2015 academic year. The overall follow-up rate is 91.5%.

CEPS documents and explains the educational processes by which students progress through secondary educational stages, selecting school-based, nationally representative sample of 19,487 students in 438 classrooms, 112 schools, 28 districts/counties across 20 provinces in China. CEPS administers 5 different questionnaires to students, their parents, teachers, and principals, providing evidence-based data for academic research and policy decision.

China Education Panel Survey was designed by National Survey Research Center at Renmin University of China, cooperating with 19 local universities and institutions of China Social Survey Network (CSSN) system. The baseline survey of CEPS has been accomplished successfully in the academic year 2013-2014. NSRC and CSSN Co-PIs will continue their cooperation on CEPS in the coming years' follow-up survey.

In academic year 2014-2015, CEPS will also administer a CATI or web survey to follow up the 9th graders in baseline sample who have finished compulsory education and left original school this year.

Data of wave 2 follow-up is currently being cleaned and analyzed. Follow-up survey of spring cohort sample will start in March 2015.
